Antique Persian Bakhshayesh Rug 127 × 100 cm, circa 1900
Origin: Persia
Age: circa 1900
Size: 127 × 100 cm
Material: Wool
A charming antique Persian Bakhshayesh rug, hand-knotted in wool and dating from circa 1900. Despite its compact size, this piece has a wonderfully bold presence, combining strong geometric drawing with the distinctive character associated with antique Bakhshayesh weaving.
The design features a striking stylised central motif surrounded by angular geometric forms and multiple decorative borders. A rich indigo-blue field is complemented by warm terracotta and brick-red tones, soft ivory, muted blue and touches of brown, creating a beautifully balanced traditional palette.
More than 120 years of age have given the rug natural variations in the pile and areas of wear, adding genuine antique character while retaining its strong design and vibrant colour. Its smaller size makes it particularly suitable beside a bed, in an entrance hall, study, dressing room or as a decorative accent rug.
A one-of-a-kind antique Persian Bakhshayesh rug with bold tribal character, beautiful natural colours and genuine age.
