Antique Persian Heriz Rug 303 × 225 cm, circa 1920
Origin: Persia
Age: Circa 1920
Size: 303 × 225 cm
Material: Wool
A beautiful antique Persian Heriz rug, hand-knotted in wool and dating from circa 1920, with the bold geometric character and wonderfully aged appearance associated with early 20th-century Heriz weaving.
The design is centred around a large angular medallion set against a warm terracotta-red field, surrounded by stylised geometric floral and botanical motifs. Soft ivory areas provide contrast, while muted sage green, pale blue, brown and soft red tones create a beautifully balanced and naturally softened colour palette.
The rug has a wonderfully worn antique surface, with areas of low pile and visible foundation that have developed naturally through more than a century of use. This gives the rug an authentic, relaxed patina while allowing the strong Heriz drawing and architectural composition to remain beautifully visible.
At 303 × 225 cm, it is a versatile size for a living room, dining room, bedroom or study, bringing warmth, texture and genuine antique character to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
A one-of-a-kind antique Persian Heriz with beautiful natural wear, soft colours and a distinctive geometric design.
