Antique Persian Heriz Rug 335 × 266 cm, circa 1910
Origin: Persia
Age: Circa 1910
Size: 335 × 266 cm
Material: Wool
A characterful antique Persian Heriz rug, hand-knotted in wool and dating from circa 1910.
The rug features a bold traditional Heriz design centred around a large geometric medallion, surrounded by angular floral and botanical motifs. The rich terracotta-red field is beautifully balanced by deep navy blue, warm ivory, soft green, pale blue and muted salmon tones.
One of the most appealing features of this rug is its naturally worn surface. More than a century of age has softened areas of the pile, revealing parts of the foundation and creating the distinctive patina and character associated with genuine antique rugs. The strong navy border provides a beautiful contrast and frames the central composition with stylised floral motifs.
At 335 × 266 cm, this is a generously proportioned rug suitable for a living room, dining room, drawing room or bedroom, particularly where an authentic antique piece with visible age and character is desired.
A one-of-a-kind antique Persian Heriz with a striking geometric design, wonderfully aged surface and beautiful naturally softened colours.
