An impressive antique Persian Bakshayesh carpet, hand-knotted in northwest Iran circa 1880. This sought-after example displays a beautifully balanced overall design with a distinctive abrash blue field, a natural and desirable characteristic resulting from variations in wool dye lots over time.
The carpet shows light, even wear to the top pile consistent with age, while retaining good overall pile, secure ends, and intact selvedges. Rich in character and scale, it remains in very good usable condition and makes a strong, decorative statement piece.
